Overview
A credit is what you spend to make something. Each image, video and paid edit has a price in credits, set by the model and its settings. Credit costs lists them all.
Credits belong to a workspace, not to a person. Everyone in the workspace spends from the same balance, so a team doesn't have to share out credits by hand.
What costs credits
Making images and video, and the paid edit tools: Ideogram Edit, Upscale and Remove background. Credits come out when the request starts.
These are free: chatting with Agent (the images it makes cost credits as usual), uploading images, and the Effects, Slice and Stickers tools.
If a generation fails, its credits go back to the workspace on their own. If some images in a request arrive and others fail, the request counts as delivered and the full charge stands. Failed generations has the details.
Where credits come from
- Welcome credits. Your personal workspace gets 100 credits once. If you sign up with Google, they arrive right away. If you sign up with email, they arrive when you verify your address. Workspaces you create later start at 0.
- Your plan. Each month a paid plan adds its credits on top of your balance. Yearly plans add them monthly too. See Plans.
- A one-time bonus the first time a workspace starts a paid plan, on the plans that have one.
- Credit packs, bought whenever you need more.
- Referrals. Settings > Referrals gives you a link. When someone starts a paid plan with it, both workspaces get 500 credits.
Buy more credits
Go to Settings > Credits, pick a pack, press the Buy button under the packs and pay at checkout. The credits are added to the balance once the payment goes through.
| Credit pack | Price |
|---|---|
| 1,000 | $11 |
| 3,000 | $29 |
| 10,000 | $89 |
Only the workspace owner can buy credits, and the workspace needs a paid plan. Members see who to ask.
Packs cost more per credit than a plan. If you buy packs every month, check the next plan up first. It usually costs less.
See your balance and history
The balance sits at the top of your user menu and on Settings > Credits. The same page shows Usage, what the workspace spent over a period you pick, and History, every credit spent or added.
Filter History by Usage or Added, and by member. Refunds are listed under Usage, so check History, not the balance, to confirm one.
Do credits expire?
No. Unused credits stay in the workspace when a new month starts, when you change plans and after you cancel. Deleting a workspace deletes its credits.
Tips
- Before a big run, point at the model in the model menu and read its Cost. Prices vary a lot: Nano Banana 2 Lite is 8 credits an image, Nano Banana Pro at 4K is 64.
- Before asking your team where the credits went, filter History by member.
FAQ
