A flat screen-printed spot on deep navy: a man leaning on a green balcony rail with a phone to his ear beside a potted lemon tree, the cream wall behind him lit

What is an AI illustration generator?

It turns a description, sketch or photo into an illustration. In Batch Banana, specify the palette and attach a finished piece as a style reference for the series. Arrow 2 and Recraft V4.1 SVG provide vector files. One image on Nano Banana 2.1 costs 10 credits.

From your sketch

From a sketch or a photo to a finished spot

Both illustrations use the cooking image below as a style reference. The source sketch and photo were also made in Batch Banana. Drag the divider to compare.

  • A generated phone photo of a rough pencil sketch on printer paper on an oak desk: a person reading on a park bench under a big round tree, a path curving behind, a pencil beside the sheet
The park sketch as a flat screen-printed spot: a reader with a red book on a navy bench under a green tree, a cream path curving through green grass, the tree's shadow in navy

    Sketch to spot

Nano Banana 2.1 kept the tree, the bench, the reader and the curving path where the sketch put them. It takes placement and pose from a sketch, not the quality of the lines.

  • A generated phone photo of a sunny kitchen windowsill: basil, rosemary and mint in terracotta pots beside a green watering can, their shadows across the sill
The windowsill photo redrawn as a flat screen-printed spot: three herbs in red pots and a green watering can on a cobalt sill, sunlight and shadow as hard cream and navy shapes

    Photo to spot

Nano Banana 2.1 redrew a phone photo of a windowsill as flat shapes, with the pots, the watering can and the shadows where they were.

Illustrations and the prompts behind them

The cooking illustration sets the style for the series. Each later image uses it as a reference, alongside the park sketch or windowsill photo where shown.

The park sketch as a flat screen-printed spot: a reader with a red book on a navy bench under a green tree, a cream path curving through green grass, the tree's shadow in navy

Use the layout of the pencil sketch in Image 1: the bench, the person reading and the big round tree where the sketch puts them, and the path curving behind. The park sketch as a square SVG in flat cobalt, navy, green and cream: a reader with a red book on a bench under a big green tree, a cream path curving away

Create a landscape vector illustration from the layout of the pencil sketch in Image 1: a person reading on a park bench under one big round tree, a path curving behind. Take the inks and the shape language from Image 2; the subject and layout come from Image 1. Flat fills only in cobalt blue, deep navy, leaf green and warm cream, with one small tomato red accent on the book; shapes overlap with darker overprint where they cross; the tree's shadow as one navy shape; no outlines, no gradients, no text.

One illustration prompt on four models

The same cooking spot, with the style in words and no reference image. Nano Banana 2.1 kept the flat inks and the overprint, Recraft V4.1 cut it like a lino print, Ideogram 4.5 left out the stove and the grain, and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst filled the pan with greens and tomatoes.

How it works

From a sketch to an illustration

  1. Sketch the layout or describe it

Choose Draw sketch in the image browser, or upload a photo of a paper sketch. Rough shapes are enough to say where things go.

  2. Define the style

Four inks and one accent color, flat shapes with no outlines, and a darker tone where the inks overprint. For an SVG, pick Arrow 2 or a Recraft V4.1 SVG model.

  3. Keep the series in style

Attach a finished spot as a style reference and say to take only its style. Recraft takes no references, so its style goes in words.

Prompting Recraft and Ideogram

Orders a Recraft prompt from the whole scene down to the details, and asks the SVG models for one stroke weight and flat fills. Text in quotes tells the model which words to include.
