Cubist painting: forms broken into flat, overlapping geometric planes with hard straight edges, showing front and side views at once. Shapes interlock like cut paper, with patterned areas of dots, stripes or hatching and occasional stenciled lettering. Earthy ochre, brown and gray, or bold blocks of red, blue, yellow, black and white. Shallow space and no single light source.
