# Projects

Keep each piece of work in its own place.

## Overview

A project is a folder for one body of work: a picture book, a set of game sprites, a client's product line. Everything you make while a project is open goes into it, and its feed shows only its own images.

Projects keep separate pieces of work apart. The Fern illustrations, the Halvard chocolate shots and the Lantern Keep pixel art each keep their own images, collections and instructions for [Agent](https://batchbanana.com/docs/create/agent), instead of sharing one long feed.

## Create a project

Open the project menu at the top of the page and choose **New project**. Give it a name and, if you like, a description, then select **Create project**. The new project opens straight away.

Name projects for the work, not the date: "Fern, four seasons" is easier to find in six months than "October".

Make the project before you start generating. Images made outside a project stay outside it; you can't move them in later.

## Switch projects

The project menu sits at the top of **Create**, **Batch** and **Library**. Pick a project to see only its work. New images, batches and uploads go into whichever project is open. Projects with the newest work are at the top of the list.

Choose **All generations** to see everything in the workspace at once, including images that belong to no project.

The open project is part of the page address. Copy the address and a teammate lands in the same project.

## Instructions & collections

With a project open, the top item in the project menu is **Instructions & collections**. Click the name or the description to change it. Below them are its instructions and its [collections](https://batchbanana.com/docs/organize/collections).

![A picture book project's name, description and instructions: the audience, the style, the palette and what to leave out.](https://batchbanana.com/docs/organize/projects/instructions.light.webp)

**Instructions** are for Agent. Write what it should know when you chat in this project: who the work is for, the style, the palette, what to avoid. Write them the way you'd brief a freelancer. Agent reads them in every chat in the project, and can update them itself when you give it clear direction. It says so in its reply when it does.

Instructions do not change images you make from the prompt box or from **Batch**. To keep a look across those, put your style images in a [collection](https://batchbanana.com/docs/organize/collections) and give it a note. The note goes into every prompt that uses the collection.

## Delete a project

Workspace owners can delete a project from the **Project options** menu in **Instructions & collections**.

By default, deleting a project keeps its images. They stay in your library under **All generations**. To delete the images as well, check **Also delete the generations** and type the project's name to confirm. That can't be undone. Either way, the project's collections are deleted with it.

## Limits

- A workspace can have up to 100 projects.
- Instructions can be up to 20,000 characters, which is far more than a useful brief needs.

## FAQ

**Can I move an image to another project?**
No. An image stays in the project it was made in. To reuse it in another project, add it to a collection, then use the collection's **Duplicate to** to copy it there.

**Do my teammates see my projects?**
Yes. Everyone in the workspace sees every project and its images, and can edit its instructions and collections. Only owners can delete a project.
