# Batch

Run a whole spreadsheet of prompts in one go, and run it again when you change it.

## Overview

A batch is a table of prompts. Each row has its own prompt, model, aspect ratio and image count. **Run All** makes every row at once, and the results land in a new column beside the prompts.

Use it when you have a list: thirty items for a game, a product line in four colors, a month of posts. Each run adds another column, so you can change the prompts or the models, run again, and compare the two side by side.

## Start a batch

Open **Batch** in the sidebar and choose **New batch**. A new batch starts with five empty rows in the project you have open, all on the same model, 1:1 and 1 image. Click its name to rename it.

Type a prompt into each row and use **Add Row** for more. Pick a **Model**, an **Aspect ratio** and **Images per prompt** for each row. To change many rows at once, select them and use the bar that appears.

## Import a CSV

For a long list, choose **Import CSV** and drop in a .csv or .tsv file, up to 10 MB. You see a preview of the first rows before anything is added.

The file needs a column of prompts. These columns are read, and any others are ignored:

| Column | Header names it accepts | What goes in it |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| Prompt | `prompt`, `text` or `description` | The prompt. Required. |
| Model | `model` or `model name` | An image model, written the way the CSV export writes it |
| Aspect ratio | `aspect ratio`, `ar` or `ratio` | A ratio such as `3:4` or `16:9` |
| Images per prompt | `num images`, `count` or `images` | A whole number from 1 to 8, the range the table offers |

Headers can be in any case, with or without spaces. A model or ratio the importer doesn't recognize doesn't stop the row: it imports with the batch's default in that cell, and the preview tells you how many values that affected.

The model column doesn't take the names in the model menu: "Nano Banana 2" is not recognized, `nano-banana-2` is. The surest way to get it right is to let Batch write it for you. Set the model on a row in the table, open the menu at the top right, and choose **Export prompts as CSV**. The exported file has every column in the form the importer reads, so you can copy the model from there. Or leave the column out and set models in the table after you import.

A batch holds up to 1,000 rows.

## Run it

Choose **Run All**. Every row with a prompt runs, and a progress notice appears with **Cancel** if you change your mind. The [credits](https://batchbanana.com/docs/account-and-billing/credits) for the whole run are set aside when it starts.

![A run column's menu open, with Browse images, Download run, Re-run failed rows and Show only this run's rows.](https://batchbanana.com/docs/create/batch/run-menu.light.webp)

Each run is its own column. Open a run's menu to **Browse images**, **Download run**, or **Re-run failed rows**, which retries only the rows that failed. To get every image from every run, use **Download all images** in the menu at the top right.

## Tips

- Write three rows and run them on [Nano Banana 2 Lite](https://batchbanana.com/docs/models/nano-banana), at 8 credits an image, before you fill in the rest. Fixing the prompt pattern is cheaper at three rows than at thirty.
- Keep the style words the same on every row and change only the subject. That keeps the set consistent.
- Use runs as versions. Select every row, switch the model to Nano Banana 2, run again, and compare the new column with the Lite one.
- Export prompts as CSV before a big edit, so you have a copy to go back to.
